(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A federal grand jury has indicted three Chicago area men for setting fire to a CTA van last spring.
The indictment accuses the men of setting fire to a CTA van on May 30, 2020, during one of the periods of civil unrest following the death of George Floyd.
Denzal Stewart, 24, and Lamar Taylor, 23, both of Chicago, and 19-year-old Darion Lindsey of Park Forest are each charged with one count of arson. The federal charge is triggered because the CTA receives federal funding.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Chicago says the two Chicago men were arrested this week, and next up for them is a detention hearing.
Lindsey was already in custody on an unrelated charge.
All three face a minimum of five years in prison and a maximum of 20, if convicted.
