(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Obama Foundation has revealed more about one of its facilities being built as part of the Obama Presidential Center.

The two-story building is called the Home Court. It’ll be a 45,000-square-foot multi-purpose space.

Fittingly, the facility will feature a gym with an NBA-size court, intersecting practice courts, exercise training space and fitness equipment along with flexible seating.

The space will be used for everything from sports programs to large events and formal banquets. A glass façade will cover the east side of the building and will be fritted in order to protect birds by preventing them from flying into it.

Obama Foundation officials said the Home Court design is inspired by two of President Obama’s personal passions: basketball and building community.

The building will be on the southwest corner of the Obama Presidential Center’s 19-acre footprint in Jackson Park.
