MILLSTADT, Ill. (KMOX) - The annual 12-acre corn maze at Eckert's Farm has a special design this year that was created by a local Illinois high school student in honor of our local healthcare heroes.
It spells "OUR HEROES" and features a heart and a caduceus, which is the symbol of healthcare in the U.S. The design was chosen over dozens of other submissions sent in this year.
The winning artwork has been cut into Eckert’s field at the Millstadt farm, which guests can visit Fridays through Sundays beginning Sept. 11. Admission tickets to Eckert’s Millstadt farm range in price from $2.20-$16.50 per person and includes entry to the corn maze and other fall family favorite activities on the farm. Tickets can be purchased from Eckert’s website.
Any healthcare worker will get free admission Sept. 17-18. To take advantage of this offer, healthcare workers will just need to show their badge at the ticket counter.
“Considering the challenges that we continue to face in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, we knew that this year’s theme had to be centered around our appreciation for the individuals who face the healthcare crisis daily,” says Chris Eckert, president of Eckert’s Inc. “This is the first time that we’ve asked the community to help with the design, and it’s clear that people wanted to display their appreciation as well. We’re happy to provide a fun platform for people to share their artwork and admiration for our local heroes. We cannot wait to unveil the show-stopping design from this talented young woman.”
Eckert’s will donate $1.00 of each corn maze admission ticket sold in September to the Friends of Saint Louis Municipal School of Nursing Scholarship to celebrate healthcare heroes throughout the Greater St. Louis area.
