However, her co-star, Josh Peck, who worked alongside Bynes on the Nickelodeon hit "The Amanda Show" from 1999 to 2002, chimed in prior to the judge’s decision to ensure that he was on her side.

"I've always had a love for her,” Peck told Insider, “and it feels so good to know that we were performing together when we were 13, and all these years later, I still have a real affection for her."

"I want her to do whatever makes her happy,” Peck said. “And if that means that one day she's acting again and in the business, great. I'm just a fan of hers as a performer, but more importantly, as a person."

"My only thoughts,” Peck added, “are that over the last few years, Amanda and I have stayed friends, and we see each other here and there, and I'm just such a fan of hers.”

While Peck, 35, has continued on a fairly steady career – he’s currently starring in Hulu’s “How I Met Your Father” – Bynes' road has been rockier.

Bynes starred in 2000s hits like “What a Girl Wants” and “Hairspray,” but after struggles with substance abuse, her mother, Lynn Bynes, was granted permanent conservatorship over her daughter in October 2014. Until this week, Lynn had complete control of her daughter’s estate.

Bynes later revealed that she'd been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. In the beginning of 2022, she initiated court proceedings over the conservatorship.

Bynes briefly spoke out following the termination, noting: "Following today's decision by the judge to terminate my conservatorship. I would like to thank my fans for their love and well wishes during this time. I would also like to thank my lawyer and my parents for their support over the last nine years.”

"In the last several years," said Bynes, "I have been working hard to improve my health so that I can live and work independently, and I will continue to prioritize my well-being in this next chapter. I am excited about my upcoming endeavors, including my fragrance line, and look forward to sharing more when I can."
