The Giants have reportedly picked up the option on backup quarterback Alex Tanney's contract.
ESPN's Field Yates was the first to report on the move Tuesday morning. Tanney is set to earn $950,000 in base salary and a $25,000 workout bonus this season, according to Spotrac.
The Giants signed Tanney before the 2018 season. He has seen action in just one game over two years -- going 1-for-1 for 1 yard after Eli Manning was pulled late in the Giants' Week 15 win over the Miami Dolphins last season.
New York released Tanney in October in a roster move that was needed to give the team more running back depth in a Thursday night game against the Patriots. The quarterback, however, was re-signed a day later.
Tanney played for seven teams in six years, including the Chiefs and Titans, before joining the Giants. He and starter Daniel Jones are currently the only quarterbacks on the Giants' roster.
