The Yankees added some versatile depth to their 40-man roster Monday, acquiring Tim Locastro from the Los Angeles Dodgers for relief pitcher Drew Finley and cash considerations.
Locastro, 26, an upstate New York native who played at Itacha College, has played in 21 games in the majors the past two seasons, hitting .167 with no home runs. A 13th-round draft pick by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2013, Locastro has a .292 career batting average in the minors. He has experience playing in the outfield and at second base, shorstop and first base.
Finley, 22, was a third-round pick by the Yankees in 2015. He spent the last three seasons with Class A Staten Island, going 2-4 with a 7.24 ERA in 16 appearances in 2018.
