The Jets narrowly missed their first win of 2020 on Monday night -- and remained on pace for the first overall pick in next year's draft.
A seemingly rejuvenated Joe Flacco connected with the Jets' suddenly competent receiving corps on a trio of scoring strikes to have the team in position to knock off the rival Patriots late in the fourth quarter -- but a costly interception and tired defense conspired to sink Gang Green in overtime.
While the defeat felt like one Jets fans have lived many, many times over, there was at least the silver lining -- for some -- of preserving their current trajectory of landing the top selection.
This fact was not lost on the denizens of social media, who had some laughs at the fact that the Jets' futility for once seemed to work in their favor.

The Jets fell to 0-9 with the loss, keeping them ahead of the 1-7 Jacksonville Jaguars, who currently would own the second pick. Next come several two-win teams, including the Giants, Cowboys, Washington, Chargers and Texans.
Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence is widely considered to be a generation talent and the top player available in the 2021 NFL Draft.
