ORANGETOWN, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A New Jersey resident died following a bicycle crash at a state park last week, New York State Police said.
At approximately 3:15 p.m. on May 22, state police responded to Tallman Mountain State Park, in Orangetown following a report of a serious mountain bike accident.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Alido Pavan, 71, was riding his mountain bike at the park when he lost control of his bike causing him to hit the ground and strike his head.
Pavan was wearing biking shoes and was clipped to the bike. He was also wearing a helmet, officials said.
Witnesses in the area rushed to Pavan's help, called 911 and rendered first aid.
State park Police arrived on scene, removed him from the bike and continued first aid efforts. EMS transported him to Nyack Hospital where he died.
