Badass Woman of the Week: Amy Platt of Westfield, MA

She thought her summer would be spent on federal jury duty — instead, it turned into a fight she never expected.

This week, we honor Amy Platt — a woman showing incredible courage and humor in the middle of one of the hardest moments of her life.

Earlier this summer, Amy called into Christine and Salt to say she’d been selected for federal jury duty and would be on call all summer. A week later, everything changed — she found a mass in her left breast and was later diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma, also in her lymph nodes.

And yes — she jokes that this is definitely not the way she wanted to get out of jury duty.

What makes Amy a badass is how she responded.
When her care was delayed for weeks at a major hospital, she advocated for herself, switched to Hartford Hospital, and found a medical team that moved quickly and listened.

Amy is sharing her story so other women know:
You have a voice.
You’re allowed to push for answers.
Waiting seven weeks is too long.

She is choosing courage.
She is choosing honesty.
She is choosing to help others, even now.

Amy Platt — we see you, we stand with you, and you are our Badass Woman of the Week.
