The Dolphins have two players in the MVP race with Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill…and Boomer somehow thinks they’re vulnerable this weekend against a Jets team that just waxed Houston?
Indeed, the Fins lost a bad one to Tennessee Monday night and Tyreek Hill got hurt, and even if he plays, his speed may not be as big a factor as usual. Short week, bad loss, top player hurt, and tough final three games? Yeah, this get right spot could be a big ouchie.
“I think Tyreek’s gonna play and they’re all-in for that No. 1 seed,” Boomer said. “That loss, they were up by 14? That’s a brutal loss, and now the question is, can they pull themselves out of it? And they are in a completely different situation than they were the last time these two teams met; I always say it’s not who you’re playing but when, and yeah, I would think the Dolphins are pretty vulnerable right now.”
“I mean, I feel the same with some of the injuries, and we always try to figure out how a team reacts from a loss – is it the thing that knocks them down and sends them down a bad spiral?” Gio asked. “It did last year, but Tua was hurt at the end of the year, but I tend to believe that this team is gonna come out and play well. I think that if Tyreek is anywhere near healthy, then they're gonna be okay.”
The Jets defense has only given up 19 points in two weeks since their last meting with Miami, and it’s completely different circumstances.
“Maybe the Jets defense is getting healthy, and last week they played an offense that was banged up,” Boomer said.
“Some of the mystique around the Dolphins this year evaporated on Monday night,” Gio replied. “You don’t feel that way about them at home anymore, and it was shocking how things fell apart Monday night. A lot of things are playing in the Jets’ favor…but I still think I'm not gonna pick against the Dolphins.”
