This week’s Badass Woman is Shante Williams Washington, Deputy Director for the City of Hartford’s Department of Emergency Services & Telecommunications. Shante has spent more than 20 years in emergency communications, building a career in the world where staying calm, making quick decisions and getting the right help to the right place can literally save lives. Oh and PS, because the job is serious, doesn't mean you can't have your own personal style!
Today, she helps lead the department that serves as the vital link between Hartford residents and the city’s police, fire and emergency medical services. It’s a high-pressure, behind-the-scenes job most of us hope we never have to depend on — but when we do, people like Shante are there. Christine Lee visited Shante at her workplace recently and saw her in action, trust that she is cool and calm under pressure! Leadership, composure and more than two decades of helping keep her community safe — Shante Williams Washington is our Badass Woman of the Week!
