Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - A man convicted in the shooting death of a three-year-old child in Hartford nearly four years ago has been sentenced.
Twenty-three-year old Jaziah Smith will spend the next 40 years behind bars.
Prosecutors say it was April 10, 2021 that he opened fire on Randell Jones, Jr.'s mother car from another vehicle at the intersection of Garden and Nelson Streets.
Randell's mother was talking to her brother at the time.
The child was rushed to St. Francis Hospital where he later died.
Two other children in the same car as Randell were not hurt.
